En el presente estudio se busca superar la sensación que existe entre los autores de que la “cotidianidad” es un concepto vago, problemático, polisémico y que, por lo mismo, es inasible o incluso imperceptible. Esta tarea se vuelve aún más apremiante actualmente, al constatar la importancia central que ha ido tomando la categoría de cotidianidad en los estudios contemporáneos. Es así como hemos abordado este trabajo a partir de diferentes problemas: primero, desde la pregunta por la universalidad del concepto; segundo, (...) desde su carácter narrativo, desde su heterogeneidad y necesaria homogeneidad ; en tercer lugar, desde las posibles motivaciones; en cuarto lugar, desde su interrupción o quiebre; luego, desde su diferencia y cercanía con el concepto de “rutina” y, finalmente, desde sus consecuencias: desencantamiento y aburrimiento. This study aims to overcome some authors’ feeling that “everyday life” is a vague, problematic and polysemous concept which, for those reasons, is unreachable and even imperceptible. This task is more relevant at present, considering the central importance that “everyday life” category has gained in contemporary studies. We have approached this task starting from the analysis of different problems: first, the question of the universality of this concept; second, its narrative nature, its heterogeneity and necessary homogeneity ; third, the possible motivations; fourth, its interruption or break down; then, its difference and proximity to the concept of “routine” and; finally, its consequences: dis-enchantment and boredom. Este texto busca investigar la incidencia del “error” en el origen de la conflictividad cotidiana entre sujetos culturalmente diversos. Para ello se comienza distinguiendo los diferentes tipos de errores, intentando acercase a una conceptualización del mismo. Luego de ello, el texto se desplaza hacia el tema del origen del error adentrándose, en primer lugar, en el tema de la “falla en la información”, abordando el asunto de su origen desde la perspectiva de la percepción, de la existencia de secretos y (...) de la concurrencia de mentiras y engaños. Por otra parte, se analiza la comprensión como fuente de errores. Finalmente, se abordan las consecuencias del error analizando, por una parte, la ira y la venganza y, por otra, la sanción y el castigo. This text aims to investigate the incidence of “mistake” in the origin of everyday conflict between culturally diverse individuals. To achieve that, it starts distinguishing the different kinds of mistakes, in order to approach to a concept of it. Later, the text explores into the origin of mistake, looking into, in the first place, the “fail of information” theme, addressing the subject of its origin from the perception perspective, the existence of secrets, and the attendance of lies and deceits. Besides, comprehension is analyzed as source of mistakes. Finally, it approaches the consequences of mistake, analyzing, on the one hand, wrath and revenge, and, on the other hand, sanction and punishment. (shrink)

El presente texto busca, en el marco del tema de los géneros literarios en filosofía, investigar acerca de la auto-biografía como una posible escritura filosófica. Se muestra, en primer término, que considerando un modo "normal" de escritura filosófica institucionalizado e impuesto, la autobiografía no es aceptada como propiamente filosófica. En segundo lugar se intenta, a partir del rescate de un sujeto filosofante, así como de un lugar y de un modo de la enunciación filosófica (retórica), lograr una apertura que haga (...) posible pensar en el discurso autobiográfico como propiamente filosófico. This text is intended to investigate, within the framework of literary genres in philosophy, the autobiography as a possible philosophical writing. Firstly, it appears that if it is considered an institutionalized and imposed "normal" way of philosophical writing, the autobiography is not accepted as properly philosophical. Secondly, it is attempted, from rescuing a philosophizing subject, as well as a place and a way of philosophical enunciation (rhetoric), to achieve an opening that it makes possible to think in autobiographical discourse as properly philosophical. El objetivo de este trabajo es dar una mirada a la manera en que Roig opera en los ámbitos categoriales. Nuestro propósito es observar cómo el autor critica, confecciona, articula, utiliza, crea y entrelaza categorías, es decir, hemos querido hacer un alto en los procedimientos estructurales de su filosofar, en sus operaciones. Sostenemos como hipótesis que el rearme categorial al que Roig apela en múltiples pasajes de su obra implica, como operación de base, un cambio en el reconocimiento del lugar (...) de enunciación, y que éste se juega en parte importante en el empadronamiento de las categorías. Distinguimos al menos cinco operaciones categoriales en su trabajo reflexivo, las cuales pueden rastrearse a lo largo de toda su obra: (1) rescate, (2) crítica (3) reemplazo, (4) reelaboración e (5) invención. The aim of this work is to give a glance to the way in which Roig operates at categorical levels. Our intention is to observe how the author criticizes, makes, articulates, uses, creates and interlaces categories, that is to say, we wanted to take a break in the structural procedures of his philosophising, in his processes. We support as hypothesis that the categorical rearmament to that Roig appeals in multiple passages of his work involves, as a base operation, a change in the recognition of the place of enunciation, and that it plays an important part in the registration of the categories. We distinguish at least five categorical operations in his reflective work, which can be traced back throughout all his work: (1) rescue, (2) critique, (3) replacement, (4) re-elaboration and (5) invention. This article is divided in two parts. The first one aims to show a short interpratation of the methodology of investigation developed by Socrates across the platonic dialogs. In the second one I'm going to show some pointed consequences on that proposed lecture in the first one.

This work consists of the first lipogrammatic translation and the first ever made into the Portuguese language of Book VII of the work _De aetatibus mundi et hominis_, credited to the late and African writer Fulgentius, the Mytographer. _De aetatibus_ is a consecutive lipogram that has a prologue and other 14 Books, with constriction in the initial 14 letters of Fulgentius’ alphabet. In this seventh section of the work, Fulgentius discusses the biblical age of the judges, avoiding the use of (...) lexical units containing the letter 'g', which was cultivated in the proposed translation text, which was developed from the critical edition by Rudolf Helm. O presente artigo pretende mostrar que, apesar dos problemas relacionados com o trabalho com as Reflexões e Preleções sobre filosofia moral de Kant, esses textos são não somente perfeitamente utilizáveis no estudo do pensamento moral kantiano, como também são indispensáveis para a análise da evolução de suas doutrinas.

El problema con el que se abre este texto es el de la exclusión de los testimonios de la biblioteca filosófica y el objetivo será sostener que dichos textos pueden ser incluidos. Para ello se intentará, primero, desestabilizar la distinción entre texto filosófico y no-filosófico. Luego, se buscará poner de manifiesto que los testimonios son un modo de expresión que es coherente con una determinada concepción de filosofía. En tercer lugar, se pretende abrir la posibilidad de un discurso filosófico no-proposición (...) en los testimonios. Finalmente, se pondrá de manifiesto que lo que hay en los testimonios son imágenes y que ellas deben ser interpretadas en tanto que tales para poder acceder a su saber filosóficos. (shrink)

Following the publication of Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia, four aged Cardinals wrote to him asking him to clarify positions in the Exhortation they charged were causing confusion to the faithful. They even suggested he had changed some Catholic doctrines. This essay answers their questions, arguing that Francis has not changed any Catholic doctrine but has changed, in the sense that he has renewed, Catholic pastoral practice. It also argues that, while not changing any Catholic doctrines, he has reprioritized (...) some of them, especially the doctrines of the authority and inviolability of conscience and what he calls the “irregular situations” of cohabitation, same-sex unions, and divorce and remarriage without annulment. Scientific research is growingly increasingly reliant on "microwork" or "crowdsourcing" provided by digital platforms to collect new data. Digital platforms connect clients and workers, charging a fee for an algorithmically managed workflow based on Terms of Service agreements. Although these platforms offer a way to make a living or complement other sources of income, microworkers lack fundamental labor rights and basic safe working conditions, especially in the Global South. We ask how researchers and research institutions address the ethical issues involved (...) in considering microworkers as "human participants." We argue that current scientific research fails to treat microworkers in the same way as in-person human participants, producing de facto a double morality: one applied to people with rights acknowledged by states and international bodies (e.g., the Helsinki Declaration), the other to guest workers of digital autocracies who have almost no rights at all. We illustrate our argument by drawing on 57 interviews conducted with microworkers in Spanish-speaking countries. (shrink)

A De aetatibus se trata de um lipograma consecutivo que possui um prólogo e outros 14 Livros, com constrição nas 14 letras iniciais do alfabeto fulgenciano. Nesta sétima seção da obra, Fulgêncio discute a idade bíblica dos juízes, evitando o emprego de unidades lexicais que contenham (...) a letra ‘g’, o que foi cultivado no texto tradutório proposto, que foi desenvolvido a partir da edição crítica efetuada por Rudolf Helm. Neste artigo abordamos a revolução tecnológica no mundo da arte, mais propriamente do teatro. Os objetivos que se pretendiam tinham a ver com o analisar e refletir a forma como as práticas teatrais foram e são potenciadas quando mediadas pela tecnologia. A metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa bibliográfica e com o desenvolvimento do trabalho pudemos concluir que, num clima de mudança radical como o da atualidade, o teatro tem de se adaptar, reajustar e responder criativamente aos novos desafios da tecnologia (...) para que disso resulte um teatro inovador. There seems to be reluctance amongst scientists to invest some of their own time in the peer-review of manuscripts. As a result, journal editors often struggle to secure reviewers for a given manuscript in a timely manner. Here, two simple principles are proposed, which could fairly allocate the contribution of individual researchers to the peer-review process.

O que nos moveu na feitura deste trabalho foi a necessidade de efetuarmos uma reflexão para melhor compreendermos o processo de criação da obra artística e opapel que ― no dar-nos a conhecer o objeto construído ― desempenha a críticagenética, uma metodologia de referência no estudo dos processos de criação.Esta nossa reflexão, que teve como base metodológica de apoio uma pesquisabibliográfica sobre autores que escreveram sobre as temáticas, permitiu-nos ummelhor entendimento relativamente aos objetivos que nos propúnhamos.

In this article, we present a work developed with palliative patients with the aim of, through art, enabling them to find answers that would help them overcome situations that kept them involved in thoughts, fears, and anxiety that consumed their energy, joy, and will to live. For this purpose, we used a qualitative methodology —research-action— and the attained results revealed how arts can be useful to these patients by providing them, through the work they have developed, with an improvement in (...) self-esteem, disposition, and well-being in disease avoidance and the expression and communication of emotions. O presente manuscrito apresenta relações de religiosidade e espiritualidade (R∕E) com diferentes indicadores sociais, educacionais e de saúde durante a Pandemia da COVID-19 no Brasil Particularmente, mostra que R∕E tem efeitos positivos nos indicadores de felicidade, bem-estar subjetivo, percepção de dor e nos diferentes índices de saúde mental. Conclui afirmando que a dimensão religiosidade e espiritualidade tem múltiplas facetas, embora seja ainda negligenciada no ensino e na pesquisa em saúde pública, especialmente em saúde mental.

Este trabajo es continuador de la línea de investigación sobre la filosofía del derecho alemana contemporánea llevada a cabo por el autor, a través del análisis de cuestiones clásicas de la filosofía del derecho. Para ello, se aborda la concepción de la pena de muerte en el pensamiento jurídico-filosófico de Arthur Kaufmann, el cual abordó esta problemática en relación con el contenido esencial del derecho a la vida y el debate doctrinal de posguerra. El artículo está dividido en las siguientes (...) partes: en primer lugar, se analiza, desde un punto de vista jurídico-filosófico, la evolución histórica de la pena de muerte a la centrando la atención en los fundamentos para su abolición y las posiciones a favor de su mantenimiento. En segundo lugar, se establecen similitudes y diferencias, en el entendimiento de la pena capital, entre la teología moral contemporánea, el pensamiento de Aquino y la obra de Arthur Kaufmann. A continuación, en base a una visión comparativa, se expone cómo el autor alemán, a la vez que mantiene una concepción católica ante la pena de muerte y la culpa sin pena, sigue la senda dejada por su maestro Radbruch, siendo en este tema no necesariamente incoherente. For this philosopher, self-love is something that not only tarnishes man's conscience but also his relationships with others. In the egoist there is a process of losing consciousness, since the idea or image that he has of himself is unfair to reality, it is always exaggerated. This false self-image, for being unfounded, prevents your conscience from being perfect, thus making it impossible for (...) one of the philosopher's basic principles: to know oneself. The article discusses self-love, supported by the notion of sincerity towards oneself. This sincerity is only possible when there is detachment from fantasies, that is, detachment from vanity. We introduce the relation of almost-reduction in an arbitrary topological Ramsey space ℛ as a generalization of the relation of almost-inclusion on ℕ[∞]. This leads us to a type of ultrafilter [MATHEMATICAL SCRIPT CAPITAL U] ⊆ ℛ which corresponds to the well-known notion of selective ultrafilter on ℕ. The relationship turns out to be rather exact in the sense that it permits us to lift several well-known facts about selective ultrafilters on ℕ and the Ellentuck space ℕ[∞] to the ultrafilter (...) [MATHEMATICAL SCRIPT CAPITAL U] and the Ramsey space ℛ. For example, we prove that the open coloring axiom holds on L [[MATHEMATICAL SCRIPT CAPITAL U]], extending therefore the result from [3] which gives the same conclusion for the Ramsey space ℕ[∞]. This paper introduces ‘Virtue and Virtuousness: When will the twain ever meet?’ a special edition of Business Ethics: A European Review. The Call for Papers invited contributions that could inform the relationship between organisational virtuousness, as conceptualised by positive organisation studies, and the classical conception of virtues pertaining to individual women and men. While the resources of particular virtue traditions – Aristotelian, Catholic, Confucian, and the like – could inform their own debates as to whether virtue extends beyond individuals, the (...) debate between virtue traditions and positive organisation studies has a different dimension. The question is whether the claims of positive social sciences as such are compatible with those of any virtue tradition. We argue that positive social science and virtue traditions are indeed rivals such that adherence to the claims of the one precludes adherence to the other. Resolution to such conflicts requires that one tradition is able to resolve questions that exhaust the resources of the other. This paper suggests that at least one area of incoherence in the findings of positive social sciences can be resolved by virtue traditions, and introduces the remaining papers in the special edition. RESUMEN Se aplicó una intervención socio sanitaria en el asentamiento rural El León de Camagüey basada en los resultados de un estudio anterior, desde la comunicación social, educativa, así como aspectos socioculturales evaluados que permitieron la realización de este estudio. Su objetivo fue implementar una estrategia de intervención basada en acciones sociales y educativas colectadas en un manual que organizó contenidos de antropología socio cultural, psicología, sociología de la salud y trabajo social comunitario, la que fue conducida por profesionales de (...) enfermería como prestadores, cuyo encargo social les asigna una mayor permanencia e intercambio con los pobladores, potenciándose el trabajo comunitario a partir de febrero de 2016,como etapa de sostenibilidad. La investigación constituyó un diseño mixto, con un estudio cuasi experimental sin grupo control combinado con métodos cualitativos. La evaluación final efectuada en el periodo 2017-2018 exhibió modificaciones positivas en indicadores de las historias clínicas familiares de los pobladores, repercutiendo en el Análisis de la Situación de Salud, realizado en abril de 2018 y el entorno comunitario. Se demostró la importancia de la aplicación de la estrategia de intervención comunitaria desde las disciplinas de las ciencias sociales, por el personal de enfermería como agente de cambio de desarrollo local y protagonista de sostenibilidad. ABSTRACT A social sanitary intervention was applied in the rural establishment El León of Camagüey, based on social and educational actions collected in a manual that organized social cultural anthropology contents, psychology, sociology of the health and community social work, which was led by infirmary professionals like lenders, whose social order assigns a major permanence and exchange of them with the settlers. The investigation constituted a mixed design, with a study quasi experimentally without control group combined with qualitative methods. The final evaluation carried out in the period 2017-2018 exhibited positive modifications in indicators of the familiar clinical history of the settlers, what reverberated in the Analysis of the Situation of Health, carried in April, 2018 and the community environment. It was demonstrated the importance of the application of the strategy of community intervention from the disciplines of the social sciences, by the infirmary personnel as change agent of local development and protagonist of sustainability. Este artigo analisa os processos de resistência negra em duas comunidades quilombolas, a do Arrojado em Portalegre/RN e a de Queimadas em Currais Novos/RN. A discussão aqui proposta pretende relacionar as ideias de África, exílio e sertão ao contexto da escravidão e do colonialismo e, por conseguinte, compreender os usos e apropriações de categorias identitárias, como quilombolas, dentro de processos políticos de afirmação étnica e do enfrentamento ao racismo. A intenção é discorrer os efeitos da luta pelo reconhecimento étnico na (...) reorganização social e política das referidas comunidades, assim como no recontar ou reescrever uma história que é marcada pela memória da escravidão e por valores, representações e práticas que as vinculam aos seus territórios. Busca-se, portanto, acompanhar a luta política dos quilombolas que visa o reconhecimento identitário e assegurar o exercício da cidadania frente aos aparatos de Estado. This article departs from the consideration that global communication is not only a reality but also a challenge. This is because most of our communication does not involve dialogue but remains mere communication without achieving the creativity implied in true conversation. Departing from Gordon Pask’s warning, in 1980, that too much togetherness would be hazardous in future information environments, this article proposes a playful displacement of images – from network to lacework. The aim is to help us refine our gaze (...) into the interconnectedness of the world, or at least, into the intricacies of our contemporary culture and its global communication. The idea is that by using lace as an inspirational image we may go beyond the hazards of uniformity and triviality of our excessive togetherness. By doing so, we would allow space for a variety of local patterns of dialogues, articulated around unspoken tensions and thus, allowing the emergency of genuine conversation. (shrink)

ABSTRACT:This article proposes a theory of the firm based on the common good. It clarifies the meaning of the term “common good” tracing its historical development. Next, an analogous sense applicable to the firm is derived from its original context in political theory. Put simply, the common good of the firm is the production of goods and services needed for flourishing, in which different members participate through work. This is linked to the political common good through subsidiarity. Lastly, implications and (...) challenges arising from the positing of work as the common good of the firm are explored. (shrink)

The only test theory used by workers in the field of testing special relativity to analyze the significance of their experiments is the proof by H. P. Robertson [Rev. Mod. Phys. 21, 378 (1949)] of the Lorentz transformations from the results of the experimental evidence. Some researchers would argue that the proof contains an unwarranted assumption disguised as a convention about synchronization procedures. Others would say that alternative conventions are possible. In the present paper, no convention is used, but the (...) Lorentz transformations are still obtained using only the results of the experiments in Robertson's proof, namely the Michelson-Morley, Kennedy-Thorndike, and Ives-Stilwell experiments. Thus the revised proof is a valid test theory which is independent of any conventions, since one appeals only to the experimental evidence. The analysis of that evidence shows the directions in which efforts to test special relativity should go. Finally it is shown how the resulting test theory still has to be improved for consistency in the analysis of experiments with complicated experimental setups, how it can be simplified for expediency as to what should be tested, and how it should be completed for a missing step not considered by Robertson. In recent years, business ethics and economic scholars have been paying greater attention to the development of commons organizing. The latter refers to the processes by which communities of people work in common in the pursuit of the common good. In turn, this promotes commons organizational designs based on collective forms of common goods production, distribution, management and ownership. In this paper, we build on two main literature streams: the ethical approach based on the theory of the common good of (...) the firm in virtue ethics and the economic approach based on the theory of institutions for collective action developed by Ostrom’s research on common-pool resources to avert the tragedy of the commons. The latter expands to include the novel concepts of new commons, “commoning” and polycentric governance. Drawing on the analysis of what is new in these forms of organizing, we propose a comprehensive model, highlighting the integration of two sets of organizing principles—common good and collective action – and five problem-solving processes to explain the main dimensions of commons organizing. We contribute to business ethics literature by exploring the convergence between the ethical and economic approaches in the development of a commons organizing view. (shrink)

We show that in 1929 Cartan and Einstein almost produced a theory in which the electromagnetic (EM) field constitutes the time-like 2-form part of the torsion of Finslerian teleparallel connections on pseudo-Riemannian metrics. The primitive state of the theory of these connections would not, and did not, permit Cartan and Einstein to realize how their torsion field equations contained the Maxwell system and how the Finslerian torsion contains the EM field. Cartan and Einstein discussed curvature field equations, though failing to (...) focus on the fact that teleparallelism automatically implies gravitational field equations with torsion terms as source, both in first and second order. We further show that the first-order contribution of the EM field to the source of the gravitational field may play havoc with the remeasurement of Newton's gravitational constant, even if the experiment is electrically grounded. These results are also used as support for the thesis that there is an alternative to the present way of dealing with the great theoretical questions of physics. On the practical side, the inconveniences faced in measuring G may be greatly compensated by the possibility of manipulating spacetime with electric fields at the first-order level. (shrink)

A connection viewed from the perspective of integration has the Bianchi identities as constraints. It is shown that the removal of these constraints admits a natural solution on manifolds endowed with a metric and teleparallelism. In the process, the equations of structure and the Bianchi identities take standard forms of field equations and conservation laws.The Levi-Civita (part of the) connection ends up as the potential for the gravity sector, where the source is geometric and tensorial and contains an explicit gravitational (...) contribution.Nonlinear field equations for the torsion result. In a “low-energy” approximation (linearity andlow energy-momentumtransfer), the postulate that only charge and velocities contribute to the source transforms these equations into the Maxwell system. Moreover, the affine geodesics become the equations of motion of special relativity with Lorentz force in the same approximation [J. G. Vargas,Found. Phys. 21, 379 (1991)]. The field equations for the torsion must then be viewed as applying to an electromagnetic/strong interaction.A classical unified theory thus arises where the underlying geometry confers their contrasting characters to Maxwell-Lorentz electrodynamics and to an Einstein's-like theory of gravity. The highly compact field equations must, however, be developed in phase-spacetime, since the connection is velocity-dependent, i.e., Finsler-like.Further opportunities for similarities with present-day physics are discussed: (a) teleparallelism allows for the formulation of the torsion sector of the theory as a flat space theory with concomitant point-dependent transformations; (b) spinors should replace Lorentz frames in their role as the subjects to which the connection refers; (c) the Dirac equation consistent with the frame bundle for a velocity-dependent metric with Lorentz signature generates a weak-like interaction in the torsion sector. This paper develops the conjecture that the electromagnetic interaction is the manifestation of the torsion Ωμ of spacetime. This conjecture is made feasible by the natural separation of the connection ω μ v into “gravitational” and “electromagnetic” parts α μ v and β μ v , respectively, related to the metric and to the torsion. When α μ v is neglected in front of β μ v , the affine geodesics are shown to become the equations of motion of charged (...) particles with Lorentz force, for an appropriate choice of Ωμ. Since β μ v contains the factor q/m, neutral particles do not see the torsional part of the connection and behave as if Ωμ were zero, i.e., as in Einstein's theory of gravity (the same effect is obviously obtained for charged particles when β μ v 《 α μ v ).In addition to the factor q/m, the velocity of the test particle appears in Ωμ. This indicates that the appropriate context for this problem is to be found in velocity-dependent connections. The velocities are now coordinates and become the actual velocities of the test particles only in the system of equations that one solves for obtaining the affine geodesics in connections of this type.When written with differential forms, the combination of Maxwell's equations and of the pertinent form of the torsion suggests geometric field equations for electrodynamics. As for the gravitational part of the connection, it can be made to obey equations similar in form to the Einstein field equations. A unified geometric theory of electrodynamics and gravitation spontaneously emerges. The present state of the theory does not yet permit us to ascertain whether the right-hand side of the fully geometric, gravitational field equations corresponds to the energy-momentum tensor. The purpose of this article is to explain the differences between neo-Aristotelian virtue and positive organizational virtuousness from the virtue ethics perspective. Most studies use virtues and virtuousness interchangeably. A few others try to explain their differences from the positive organizational science perspective. Although closely related, we believe that these two notions are not identical. If we understand neo-Aristotelian virtue correctly, then it cannot be judged exclusively on what is externally verifiable, as is the case with virtuousness. For these reasons, (...) we attempt our own differentiation, highlighting the gains and losses realized in the migration from neo-Aristotelian virtue to positive organizational virtuousness, and establishing guideposts to meaningfully combine the strengths of both concepts. In this article, we shall attempt to lay down the parameters within which the practice of the virtues may be enabled in the field of finance. We shall be drawing from the three main sources, Aristotle, Catholic Social Teaching and MacIntyre, on which virtue ethics is based. The research question is what ought to be done for financial activities to truly contribute to eudaimonia or human flourishing, to the achievement of three distinct kinds of goods as required of virtue, “those (...) internal to practices, those which are the goods of an individual life and those which are the goods of the community”, and to “[help] man on the path of salvation” in the midst of complex network of relationships in modern societies. These parameters could then be taken as conditions financiers ought to fulfill in order to live the virtues in their work and across different life spheres. (shrink)
